Q: My DSL is down.  What can I do?

Most of the time, a DSL outage can be fixed by simply turning the DSL router off for a minute or so and turning it back on again. Usually, if the DSL goes down, the router will automatically try to re-connect, but sometimes a restart is necessary. Also, restart your computer or refresh its network, and restart any networking equipment that's hooked up to the router.

Q: How do I set up my (non-Win.Net provided) wireless router to use the DSL connection?

Wireless routers are a great way to network your home quickly and efficiently. However, there are many different routers on the market, and each is different in terms of what it can do and how it is set up. Contact the manufacturer of your wireless router for the most accurate information.

If you do not have the Pro IP option on your account, then our DSL router is acting as a DHCP Server . The ideal configuration for a customer who does not have Pro IP is to set up their router as an Access Point or DHCP Relay . If you do have Pro IP, then you can simply assign one of your available IP addresses to your router, and connect normally.

Q: I'm getting ready to move/change phone numbers.  Will my DSL move with me?

DSL moves are usually fairly easy, but sometimes it may take days or even weeks to move the service over to the new address or phone number. Before the move, it's important that you give us a call so we can qualify the new address for DSL, schedule the move, and ensure that you won't have a lapse in service. The sooner we know you're moving, the better.

Q: I can surf the web, but certain websites won't come up.  Why?

Some websites are set up in such a way that they are incompatible with our DSL connections. This issue has to do with something called Path MTU Discovery.
